Football
The 1950s was the golden age of football at St. Thomas University, and at the centre of it all was fullback Joey George.
The Fredericton native played an important role in the winning of three consecutive New Brunswick Canadian Rugby Football Union championships in the early 1950s. He scored numerous touchdowns in each championship game, leading the Tommies to victory.
He was twice selected to the Union all-star team, first in 1953 as the only unopposed pick, and as one of three returning players in 1954.
