Hockey 1968-1972
Gordon Wheaton was a standout left-winger on the men’s hockey team from 1968-1972. The Fredericton native was named the men’s hockey team most valuable player for three consecutive years—1969, 1970, and 1971—and was honoured as a conference all-star in 1969 and 1970. In his four years with the Tommies, Wheaton never finished a season with less than 21 points. He was named team captain for three of his four seasons and was a member of the Tommies team that fell just short of a Maritime Intercollegiate Hockey League championship in 1969.
