Phase 4: Grassroots policy proposals
Phase 4 brings together policymakers, stakeholders, and community members to address our fourth research question:
What grassroots policy proposals emerge from these narrative-making activities?
Policy mapping
Building on insights from the first three phases, we’re currently conducting comprehensive policy mapping to analyze existing immigrant support services and advocacy efforts. Policy mapping is the process of analyzing, visualizing, and assessing policies to identify key stakeholders, evaluate effectiveness, and pinpoint gaps or overlaps in implementation. Policy mapping is a critical part of our work as it helps us analyze and visualize the policies affecting newcomer integration and community support in Fredericton. As part of this policy mapping work the Promise of Home team has met directly with the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, Horizon Health, UNB International Student Advisor’s Office, and UNB Student Recruitment. We’ve contacted a diverse range of organizations, including government agencies, community organizations, employment services, settlement agencies, and advocacy groups. This process helped us identify gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for improvement in Fredericton’s newcomer support system.
