“Where are you from?” An interactive panel with student leaders from STU & UNB
On February 9, 2024, Promise of Home hosted an interactive panel featuring international student leaders from STU and UNB at the Harriet Irving Library. The discussion focused on student experiences with racialization, immigration, healthcare, and community engagement, while exploring ways to create a more inclusive campus. Panelists included Silvie Binsai, STU Human Rights and Political Science graduate; Zyrene Estallo, pursuing her Master’s in Education at UNB; Rigjey Namdroen, UNB Student Union’s VP of Communications; and Boluwatise Oduntan from STU’s Black Student Association and African Caribbean Club. Aligned with the broader Promise of Home project, the event provided insights into challenges around belonging and cultural integration. Attendees included students, faculty, and community members.
