Narrative Resilience and Later Life

The proposed research is about the stories people tell about coping , adapting and positive functioning in the face of the challenges of old age.  It posits the notion that people who are more resilient tend to recount life stories in richer, more complex, ironic fashion than those who are less resilient.  We will be interviewing a range of older people and analyzing their stories for indicators of ‘narrative strnegth’.
